District Planning Office acts as district office of State Planning Board. It co-ordinates all developmental activities of line departments as well as Local Self Government Institutions in the district. District Planning Office has no sub offices. 


District Planning Committee ( DPC)

District Planning office acts as secretariat office of District Planning Committee which is formed under Article 243 ZD of Indian Constitution. One of the main functions of DPC is preparation District Plan for the comprehensive development of the district. DPC evaluate and approve the annual Plan projects of LSGIs in the district. District Planning officer is the Joint Secretary (Co-ordination) of DPC. District Collector is the Member Secretary and District Panchayath President is the chairman of the DPC. District Planning Office has been monitoring plan progress of local bodies on behalf of DPC through “Sulekha”plan monitoring system.

DistrictDevelopment Council ( DDC)

District Development council is a permanent forum, which review and resolve the developmental issues in the district. DDC meetings are conducted on last Saturdays of every month.District Planning Officer is the Secretary and District Collector is the Chairman of DDC. District Planning office has been monitoring State Plan schemes through “Plan Space”software.

MPs Local Area Development Scheme ( MPLADS)

           MPLADS is a central Plan Scheme for creation of the  durablecommunity assets proposed by the MPs. Each MP can recommend projects worth Rs. 5.00 crore in each year. District planning Office functions as the Nodal office of MPLADS on behalf of district collector.

District Level Committee for Scheduled Caste & Scheduled Tribe Development

District Level committee for SC & ST Development give approval to the welfare schemes for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes  implemented under SCA to SCSP , SCA to TSP , Corpus fund etc.District PlanningOfficer is the Convenorof the committee. District Collector is the Secretary and District Panchayath President is the chairman of the committee.

District Level Co- ordination Committee for Western Ghats Development Programme

District Level Co-ordination committee for Western Ghat Development Programme approve and monitor Projects under WGDP, District Planning Office co-ordinatesthe activities of Western GhatDevelopmentProgramme in the District. District Planning Officer is the Convener and District Collector is the Chairman of the committee.

MPLADS Facilitation Centre

       An MPLADS facilitation Center is functioning in the district as per the guidelines. The main function of the facilitation centre is to provide all information regarding MPLADS at one place to the Hon’ble MPs as well as general public.
