KERALA FISHERMEN’S WELFARE FUND BOARD(MATSYABOARD)
- One of the pioneer agency working under Fisheries Department
- Matsyaboard formed by the directions contained in The Kerala Fishermen`s Welfare Fund Act,1985.
- Came in to force w.e.f. 26/01/1986 for the welfare of Fishermen in the State vide SRO 25/86
- welfare fund scheme started for the workers engaged in the fisheries related activities (Allied Worker) as per The Kerala Fishermen`s Welfare Fund (Amendment) Act,1999
Governing body (Board)-for the administration of the fund and to supervise and to carry out the activities financed from the fund.

Kerala Fishermen Welfare Fund Board (Matsya Board),Regional Office, Kannur
The Kannur Regional Office of the Fishermen Welfare Fund Board is functioning at Kannur Mappila Bay Fisheries Complex. The Kannur Regional Office is responsible for co-ordinating the implementation of Matsya Board projects in Kannur and Kasargod districts. The regional office is headed by the Junior Executive Officer. 7 Fisheries Officers have been assigned to manage the welfare activities of 11 coastal fishing villages and 1 inland fishing village in Kannur district and 16 coastal fish villages and 1 inland fishing village in Kasargod district. - March –application enquiry by Fisheries Officer

Fishermen welfare schemes -17 schemes

- Group Personal Accident Insurance Scheme- All registered active fishermen and allied fishermen of the state , between the age group of 18 to 70 years are brought under this scheme

2.Old age pension -@1200/- per month – registered fishermen who attains the age of 60 years
- Widow pension -pension to widows of fishermen who die before getting the old age pension @1200/- per month
- PMJJBY/PMSBY and converged AABY scheme-death due to Heart attack and other natural causes are not covered under GPAI scheme.This scheme bring all the registered fishermen of Kerala State under insurance coverage for any type of death except suicide

- THANAL– INCOME SUPPORT SCHEME-
- Objective-To provide income support to fishermen and allied workers during lean season. (Started : 2011-2012)
- Fund Source-Central Government aided scheme, running by both Fisheries and Labour departments through K F W F Board
- Beneficiaries-Bothfishermen and allied workers who enrolled for biometric card. He/she should be below 60 years of age (No contribution of beneficiary to the scheme)
