STATE GOODS AND SERVICES TAX DEPARTMENT

          The Department of Taxes is the major  source of revenue of the Government of Kerala, accounting for the 3/4th of its revenues.  The main goal of the Department is to ensure voluntary tax compliance through transparent and simplified procedures.  The main activities  of the Department are collection of tax, registration of dealers, recovery of arrears of tax, prevention and detection of tax offenses.  The critical functions of the Department such as filing  of returns, payment of tax, issue of statutory forms, declaration of consignments etc are now fully automated.

Services:-

          The main service rendered by state Goods and Services Tax Department is registration of  dealers and other GST related works.  At present all GST services are made available by online. Dealers or businessmen can directly apply for GST registration and other related services through online without fee.

Workings :–  There are different GST Offices working in this district namely District Office, Circle Offices, Intelligence wing etc for the collection of tax, registration of dealers and also to prevent and detection  of tax offenses etc.  Deputy Commissioner is the head of the  District State GST Department.
